History
The entrance to the public library in Montesano, Washington, is flanked by wide flower beds. These beds have been decorated with a bust of Shakespeare and planted with flowers mentioned in his writings, among them (Hamlet (4.5), Love’s Labour’s Lost (5.2), and The Winter’s Tale (4.4)). A plaque has been erected to mark the garden’s connection to the literary canon.
The plaque reads: ‘Shakespeare’s Flowers, A project of Timberland Regional Library District, Friends of W.H. Abel Memorial Library, Gung Ho Garden Club, and WSU Master Gardeners of Grays’ Harbor County.’
