The Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington
The Shakespeare Theatre Company is a regional theatre company in Washington, D.C. The company tends to focus on Shakespearean plays, but past seasons have included classical pieces by Euripides, Ibsen, Wilde, and Shaw, among others.
The company is housed in the Harman Center for the Arts, which consists of the Lansburgh Theatre and Sidney Harman Hall. Furthermore, the company runs the Academy for Classical Acting in concert with George Washington University.
The company’s current Artistic Director is Simon Godwin, previously based in London, where he served as Associate Director of London’s Royal National Theatre, Associate Director of the Royal Court Theatre and Associate Director of the Bristol Old Vic.
