History
In a sort of rotunda (‘the Centurium’, built to mark the university’s centenary), the likeness of William Shakespeare stands among other statues, including Newton, Einstein, Galileo, Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, da Vinci, Marie Curie, Thomas Jefferson, Germaine de Stael and John Stuart Mill. The twelve figures were selected by Eugene T. Woolf, who subsequently wrote a book about them: The Odyssey of the Mind, A Voyage of Discovery (SUU Press)
Commissioned by the Utah Shakespearean Festival.
