History
The statues were commissioned by Barbara C. Newington and John Chwat, and stand in the Elizabethan Garden at New Place. They ‘reflect the sculptor’s response to key moments and characters in each play’: The Tempest, Julius Caesar, King Lear, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Henry IV part 2, and Macbeth.
