From the Société Française Shakespeare website: ‘Any Shakespearean flâneur who visits the empty site of the long gone Shakespeare’s statue by Fournier on boulevard Haussmann (Fig. 1) may combine the visit to this peculiar symbolic site of Shakespearean memory in Paris with a visit to two other sites of literary and collective memory.’
The statue was a gift to the city of Paris from Mr. William Knighton.
