History
Little is known of the Old Globe, aside from the fact that it was built for ‘Texas Centennial Exposition’.
According to the official guide book of the exposition: “Near the General Motors Auditorium, this bit of Merrie Old England recalls the days of Shakespeare, Kit Marlowe, Ben Johnson and the gallant Walter Raleigh. Here, in a setting that brings back the times of Good Queen Bess, you find a complete reproduction of the Old Globe Theatre in which the plays of Shakespeare were first produced, in London, during his lifetime.” (From the Historic Fair Park, Dallas, Texas website)
